தென் மாகாண சபைத் தேர்தலில் போட்டியிடும் ஐ. ம. சு. முன்னணி வேட்பாளர்கள் சிலர் மோதலில் ஈடுபட்டது தொடர்பாக ஜனாதிபதியின் பணிப்பின் பேரில் ஒழுக்காற்று விசாரணைகள் நடத்தப்பட உள்ளதாக சுதந்திரக் கட்சி பொருளாளரும் போக்குவரத்து அமைச்சருமான டலஸ் அலஹப்பெரும தெரிவித்தார்.

மகாவலி நிலையத்தில் நேற்று (9) நடைபெற்ற ஊடகவியலாளர் மாநாட்டில் கருத்துத் தெரிவித்த அமைச்சர் மேலும் கூறியதாவது. ஐ. தே. க. அடங்கலான எதிர்க் கட்சியில் இருந்து எமக்கு போட்டி இல்லாததால் ஐ. ம. சு. முன்னணி வேட்பாளர்கள் தமக்கிடையே மோதிக் கொள்கின்றனர்.

ஜனாதிபதியின் பணிப்பின் பேரில் இது தொடர்பாக விசாரணைகள் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஐ. ம. சு. மு. செயலாளர் அமைச்சர் சுசில் பிரேம்ஜயந்த் இது தொடர்பான விசாரணைகளை ஆரம்பித்துள்ளதோடு சில வேட்பாளர்களை அழை த்து உரிய அறிவுறுத்தல்கள் வழங்கியுள்ளார். மோதல்க ளுடன் தொடர்புடைய வேட் பாளர்களுக்கு எதிரான ஒழு க்காற்று நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும்.

இத்தகைய மோதல்கள் மூலம் குறித்த வேட்பாளர்கள் தமக்குத் தாமே பாதிப்பை ஏற்படுத்துக் கொள்கின்றனர் என்றார்.

இவ்வாறான புலம்பெயர்ந்து வாழும் அமைப்புகளின் செயற்பாடுகள் பல வன்னியில் பல்லாயிரக் கணக்காண மக்களின் உயிரிழப்பிற்குக் காரணமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. நடந்து முடிந்த யுத்தத்தில் அமெரிக்கா இஸ்ரேல் ஆகிய நாடுகள் வழங்கிய ஆயுதங்கள் முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்தது பற்றிய செய்திகள் வெளியாகி உள்ளது.

இறுதி யுத்தத்தில் அமெரிக்கா கனடா பிரித்தானியா போன்ற மேற்கு நாடுகளில் உள்ளவர்கள் சிலர் வழங்கிய மிகைப்படுத்திய நம்பிக்கைகளே விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் இறுதி முடிவுக்கு காரணம் என்ற குற்றச்சாட்டுக்கள் தற்போது பலமாக எழுகின்றது. இந்நாடுகளில் உள்ள அமைப்புகள் தங்கள் முடிவுகள் மிகப்பெரும் மனித அவலத்திற்கு வன்னி மக்களைத் தள்ளியது பற்றிய சுயவிமர்சனம் எதுவும் இன்றி தங்கள் வங்குரோத்து அரசியலைத் தொடர முற்படுகின்றன.

Winchester High School senior fights for human rights in Sri Lanka : Brad Petrishen

Winchester, MA – At first glance, Priya Suntharalingam, a slender, polite, 17-year-old Winchester High School senior, is not a particularly physically imposing figure.

Politically, however, she is becoming a major force in the movement of numerous human rights organizations to publicize what they believe to be gross atrocities taking place on the war-torn island nation of Sri Lanka.

A member of the People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL), Suntharalingam was one of eight Americans who went on a 12-day hunger strike to bring awareness to what she believes is genocide taking place in the country.

“There are 300,000 people interned in camps, innocent civilians, and they need to be freed immediately,” Suntharalingam told a group of Tamils who gathered at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston last Saturday to discuss the issue. “Thousands are dying every day.”

According to an event handout, since the British left Sri Lanka in 1948, conflict has abounded on the island between the two main peoples, the Sinhalese and the Tamils, who differ in language, religion and customs.

The Sinhalese constitute the majority, and since independence have gradually enacted legislation that restricted the freedoms and quality of life for Tamils, Suntharalingam said.

Since 1983, she said Tamils, whom the government deemed terrorists (“Tamil Tigers”), have been fighting for independence from the Sinhalese.

Suntharalingam’s connection to the issue runs deep. Though her mother, a Tamil, came to America after getting married, Suntharalingam said she feels responsibility to all her relatives who have suffered and are still suffering.

“My uncle was abducted when he was 12, and taken to a camp and tortured because they said he was a Tamil Tiger,” she said. “In order to get him to talk, they tied him upside down, put his head in a can of gasoline and beat him.”

Suntharalingam said her uncle managed to escape his captors and the country, but says she can’t sit by and let the same thing happen to other Tamils without taking action.

 Faces in the crowd

Audience member Thaya Paramanathan has experienced firsthand too much of what Suntharalingam, who was born in the United States, has only seen and heard.

Like many Americans, Paramanathan recently graduated from Northeastern University on a scholarship.

The similarities end there.

“When I was 10 years old, my whole house was burned to ashes,” he said. “When I grew up in Jaffna, which isn’t even in the war zone, I didn’t have much. I didn’t even have Coke or chocolate. It wasn’t allowed.”

Paramanathan said he was lucky to get a scholarship and come to the United States.

“When I got here, I drank a lot of Coke and ate a lot of chocolate,” he said, adding that he feels guilty when he thinks of his parents, whom he said are still stuck in a country in which they cannot enjoy the same freedoms.

“My parents are in Jaffna, which is much safer than the war zone,” he said. “But still, when I visited the capitol last year for a wedding, I could not see them because travel to the north is prohibited.

“I feel very guilty, because they are suffering there, and I have freedom here. But, for my own sake, they said they never want me to come back.”

A different perspective

Also in attendance at the meeting was Thusith Mahanama, who said he was probably the only Sinhalese Sri Lankan in the room.

Mahanama, now the CEO of a Boston-based software company, grew up in Sri Lanka without many of the hardships faced by those surrounding him, and said he is trying to do all he can to help.

“What happened, happened,” he said after the event. “It’s in the past, almost like slavery in America, and … we need to cut through that and meet as humans.”

To that end, Mahanama has started a Web site, srilankansforunity.org, through which he hopes to bring members of the two groups together.

“I have many Tamil friends and coworkers, and I don’t even think of them as Tamil,” he said. “I think what’s happened is a broad socio-economic problem. It’s time to go beyond anger and disunity so that citizens of Sri Lanka can move forward as one voice.”

 Mahanama said he believes the country can survive without splitting in two — a sentiment not shared by Paramanathan.

“I think only a two-state solution is viable,” said Paramanathan. “We’ve seen what’s happened over the past 50 years. It hasn’t worked out.”

Mahanama admitted much in the country must change before trust can be built.

“I agree that the problem of the [internment camps] needs to be solved,” he said, adding that he did not believe, however, that any form of genocide was occurring.

“For the 300,000 people who are in camps, there are 1.7 million who are not,” he said, adding that the United States government would not be providing aid to the Sri Lankan government if it suspected it of slaughtering the IDPs (internally displaced persons) for whom the money is intended.

According to an Aug. 19 press release from the U.S. embassy in Sri Lanka, the government has given $8 million in aid this year to Sri Lanka to “support the welfare and safety of IDPs until they can return to their homes.”

 Recent controversy

Human rights groups, however, believe that IDPs are being treated inhumanely, and the debate has been sparked further on the heels of a crudely shot video that depicts savage beatings and executions of Tamils supposedly carried out by the Sri Lankan government.

“It’s genocide,” Suntharalingam insisted, adding that the atrocities she believes are being committed are what sustained her during the hunger strike — so much so that she had to be force-fed by her mother, who feared for her health, putting an end to the strike.

“Most people say hunger strikes are useless,” she said. “But this one had results.”

Indeed, media accounts of the strike prompted Sen. John Kerry (D-Massachusetts) to invite her to Washington, D.C. over the summer, as his personal guest while the senate discussed the issues in Sri Lanka.

She vowed to continue to fight for what she believes is right, and plans on holding a number of events at Winchester High this year to raise awareness among classmates.

“That could be me over there,” she said earnestly. “I feel it’s my obligation to use my luxury of freedom to speak out against such atrocities.”

I wish to commence this statement with a brief introduction about my home.

My father was a government servant for 40 years. He served at the Department of Information and retired as its Director. Later he worked in the Prime Minister’s office as an Assistant Secretary and was the speech writer to the Prime Minister. I grew up in an environment of mixed ethnic groups in Colombo. In school too my friends were from all the different ethnic communities of our country. My first language is very much English and although I can speak Tamil, I am not very fluent in Tamil. After my high school I entered Peradeniya University and studied in English. There too all my friends were from different ethnic backgrounds.

I joined the Sunday Times in 1987 after university and later have worked as a journalist in a few English language national newspapers. I joined MARGA in 1989 pioneered discussions and engaged in research on how to solve the national issue peacefully.

While I was at Marga and later also, I helped OPFMD (Organisation of Parents and Family Members of the Disappeared :

* I helped the families of the disappeared persons from the South due to insurrection by collecting information and translating them into English to send to organisations such as the Amnesty International and the UN.

* Vasudeva Nanayakkara and HE Mahinda Rajapakshe gave it political leadership and took the documents to Geneva.

* Was always worried for the safety of the civilians.

* Intention was to stop the killing of youth, whoever they were.

Although I told all this when questioned at the TID, they never wrote these things down, and even when Razik dictated for me to write down he left all this out.

I spoke up for the employees and as a consequence my services were terminated. I filed an application in the Labour Tribunal and was awarded compensation. Although Marga appealed to the High Court, it was dismissed.

1994 to 1995 – I worked on a project for UNICEF through an organization called “The Medium”. Went to the East and did a documentary on children left parentless due to the conflict due to activities of the LTTE, JVP, EPRLF, IPKF, State created violence and other paramilitary groups. This was also left out of all my statements.

Disappearance Commission – 1994 to 96: I helped them in various ways, collected info, translated them into English, helped to coordinate with families. This was also left out of all my statements.

Knowledge of Tamil: I am not fluent in Tamil, my work has always been in English. I can speak Tamil, but am not fluent. For the first time after I left school I was made to write in Tamil when Razik forced me to take down what he dictated. This is what is now claimed to be my confession. I never wrote it on my own and I stand by the evidence I gave at the voir dire.

I was also scared of my eye conditions since I have had surgery for retinal detachment. If it recurred, I would go blind fully. Therefore, even when I protested as the factual inaccuracies what is said to be my confession, I wrote it since Razik threatened me and also told me that I would be released soon if I cooperated. He said that they had to send it to the Supreme Court.

Charge under the PTA: It is unfair and illegal to charge me under the PTA for acts said to have been committed during the operation of the Ceasefire Agreement when the Government had given an undertaking to relax the operation of PTA and allowed the free movement of the people from North and South into both LTTE and Government controlled areas.

I travelled to the North and East during the CFA, as a journalist, collected information about life there to include in my writings, interviewed people from a vast spectrum such as political leaders, religious leaders, scholars, the displaced people, activists, NGO, LTTE leaders. I personally know that many other journalists also travelled to the North and East during this time for the same purpose. I have also spoken on the telephone many times with persons who lived in those places to obtain information.

A person called Baba never offered me any money. I never received money from him or the LTTE. North Eastern Monthly was run on a commercial basis. It was sold at bookshops like Vijitha Yapa and Makeen Bookshop. There were subscribers too. The Account Number in which to deposit the subscription money was printed in the North Eastern Monthly from the January 2007. Therefore the Account Number was available to anyone who bought the magazine.

I was, and am still an advocate against terrorism. I have criticized terrorism in whatever form. I never advocated violence, my objective was to generate non violent means of resolving the conflict, my research, writings and work was towards achieving this.

OPFMD was at one stage involved in securing the release of soldiers and policemen captured by the LTTE. They made contact with the LTTE for this purpose and travelled to the Vanni also. In order to arrange these trips, I have often spoken on the phone in Tamil I could manage with their contact persons. This was also left out of all my statements.

I am a non violent person and always agitated against violence and for justice for the oppressed. By writing the two articles referred to in the indictment, I never intended to cause violence or communal disharmony and no such thing ever occurred as a result of those articles. This is all I have to say.

வன்னி முகாம்களில் உள்ள தமிழ் அகதிகளை தங்கள் சொந்த இடங்களில் மீள்குடியேற்றுவது சம்பந்தமாக தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பு சொந்தமாக நிகழ்ச்சித் திட்டம் ஒன்றைத் தயாரித்து வருகின்றது என்று கூட்டமைப்பு நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் என்.ஸ்ரீகாந்தா தெரிவித்துள்ளார். தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பின்  நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் நேற்று முன்தினம் திங்கட்கிழமை ஜனாதிபதி மஹிந்த ராஜ பக்ஷவைச் சந்தித்து உரையாடினர்.

வன்னி முகாம்களில் உள்ள தமிழ் அகதிகளின் மீள்குடியேற்றம் மற்றும் புனர்வாழ்வு ஆகியன குறித்து இச்சந்திப்பின்போது பிரதானமாக பேசப்பட்டது. இச்சந்திப்பில் கூட்டமைப்புச் சார்பாக கலந்துகொண்ட நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களில் ஒருவரான என்.ஸ்ரீகாந்தா குறித்த சந்திப்பு குறித்து “ஏசியன் ட்ரிபியூன்” ஆங்கில இணையத்தள  பத்திரிகைக்கு வழங்கிய பேட்டியிலேயே வன்னி முகாம்களில் உள்ள தமிழ் அகதிகளின் மீள்குடியேற்றம், புனர்வாழ்வு ஆகியன சம்பந்தமாக கூட்டமைப்பு சொந்தமாகத் தீர்வுத் திட்டம் ஒன்றைத் தயாரித்து வருகிறது என்று குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

அவர் அப்பேட்டியில் மேலும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளவை வருமாறு: நாம் வன்னி அகதிகளின் மீள்குடியேற்றம், புனர்வாழ்வு ஆகியன தொடர்பாக சொந்தமாக சில திட்டங்களையும், யோசனைகளையும் வைத்திருக்கின்றோம். ஆனால்,  அவற்றை விளங்கப்படுத்துவதற்கு இது உரிய தருணம் அல்ல. நாம் இவை தொடர்பாக நிகழச்சித்திட்டம் ஒன்றைத் தயாரித்து வருகிறோம். 

அமெரிக்க ஓபன் டென்னிஸ் கிராண்ட் ஸ்லாம் தொடரின் ஆடவர் இரட்டையர் காலிறுதி ஆட்டங்களில் லியாண்டர் பயஸ்-லூயி இணையும், மகேஷ் பூபதி-மார்க் நோல்ஸ் இணையும் வெற்றி பெற்று அரையிறுதிக்கு முன்னேறினர்.

4ஆம் தரவரிசையில் உள்ள பயஸ்-லூயி இணை, 7ஆம் தரவரிசையில் உள்ள பலமான தென் ஆப்பிரிக்க-பெல்ஜியம் இணையான வெஸ்லி மூடி, டிக் நார்மன் இணையை 6- 3, 5- 7, 6- 4 என்ற செட் கணக்கில் அபாரமாக வீழ்த்தி அரையிறுதிக்கு முன்னேறினர்.

பயஸ்-லூயி இணை 7 டபுள் ஃபால்ட்களையும், 20 முறை கிரவுண்ட் ஷாட்களில் தவறையும் செய்தனர். இருப்பினும் வெற்றி பெற்றதற்கு காரணம் முதல் சர்வில் வெற்றி பெற்றது அதிகம். மேலும் தென் ஆப்பிரிக்க-பெல்ஜியம் இணையின தவறுகளை குறைவாக செய்தாலும் அந்த தவறுகள் முக்கியக் கட்டத்தில் நிகழ்ந்ததால் பயஸ்-லூயி இணை வெற்றி பெற்றது.

மற்றொரு காலிறுதி ஆட்டத்தில் 3ஆம் தர நிலையில் உள்ள மகேஷ் பூபதி- மார்க் நோல்ஸ் இணை, தர நிலையில் இல்லாத குரேஷிய-பிரான்ஸ் இணையான லுபிசிச்-லோத்ரா இணையை 6- 4, 4- 6, 7- 6 என்ற செட்களில் சற்றே தட்டுத் தடுமாறி வீழ்த்தி அரையிறுதிக்கு முன்னேறினர்.

இலங்கை வவுனியாவில் அமைந்திருக்கும் நிவாரண முகாம்களில் இருக்கும் இடம்பெயர்ந்தோரின் உறவினர்கள் அவர்களுக்கு பொறுப்பேற்று பராமரிக்க முன்வந்தால், அவர்களை விடுவிக்க அரசு தயாராக இருப்பதாக இலங்கை அரசு உள்ளூர் ஊடங்களில் விளம்பரம் செய்துள்ளது.

இது குறித்த மாதிரி விண்ணப்பப் படிவம் ஒன்றும் இந்த விளம்பரத்தில் பிரசுரமாகியிருக்கிறது.

விண்ணப்பங்களில் பல அதிகாரிகள் கையெழுத்திடவேண்டும். குறிப்பாக ஒருவர் விடுவிக்கப்படும் முன்பு இராணுவத்தின், வவுனியா கட்டளையதிகாரி கையெழுத்திட வேண்டும் என்று மீள் குடியேற்ற அமைச்சர் ரிசாட் பதியுதீன் BBC தமிழோசையிடம் தெரிவித்திருந்தார்.

பாராளு மன்ற தேர்தல்கள் (திருத்தச்) சட்ட மூலத்தின் சில பிரிவுகள் அரசியலமைப்புச் சட்டத்திலுள்ள சில பிரிவுகளுக்கு முரணானது என உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பளித்துள்ளது என சபாநாயகர் வி. ஜே. மு. லொக்குபண்டார நேற்று பாராளுமன்றத்தில் அறிவித்தார்.

மேற்படி சட்டமூலத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளவற்றை அவ்வாறே நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டுமாயின் விசேட பெரும்பான்மையை பெறவேண்டும் என்றும் உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பளித்துள்ளது எனவும் சபாநாயகர் நேற்று தெரிவித்தார்.

பாராளுமன்றம் நேற்றுக் காலை சபாநாயகர் வி. ஜே. மு. லொக்குபண்டார தலைமையில் கூடியது. இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து சபாநாயகர் மேற்படி உயர் நீதிமன்ற தீர்ப்பை சபையில் அறிவித்தார்.

சபையின் அங்கீகாரத்திற்கென பாராளுமன்றத்தில் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள பாராளுமன்ற தேர்தல்கள் (திருத்தச்) சட்டமூலம் தொடர்பாக அரசியலமைப்பின் 121 (1) பிரிவின் கீழ் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தின் தீர்ப்புக்காக சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

ஸ்ரீலங்கா முஸ்லிம் காங்கிரஸ், தமிழ்த் தேசிய கூட்டமைப்பு, ஸ்ரீலங்கா சுதந்திரக் கட்சி (மக்கள் பிரிவு), ஐ. தே. க என்பன மேற்படி சட்டமூலம் தொடர்பாக அடிப்படை உரிமை மீறல் மனு ஒன்றை தாக்கல் செய்திருந்தன. மேற்படி மனுக்கள் தொடர்பாகவே உயர் நீதிமன்றம் மேற்படி தீர்ப்பை வழங்கியுள்ளது.

பாராளுமன்ற தேர்தல்கள் (திருத்தச்) சட்டமூலத்தின் 2ஆம் வாசகத்தின் 7(5) ஆ உப பிரிவு 7(6) உப பிரிவில் அல்லது ஏதேனும் மதத்தை அல்லது சமுதாயத்தை குறித்துக்காட்டுவதாயின் எனும் சொற்கள் மற்றும் 4 ஆம் வாசகத்தின் 9 (3) உப பிரிவு ஆகியவை அரசியலமைப்பின் 12 (1) , 14(1) அ. மற்றும் 14 (1)(உ) ஆகிய உறுப்புரைகளுக்கு முரணானவை என உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பளித்துள்ளது.

பாராளுமன்ற தேர்தல்கள் (திருத்தச்) சட்டமூலத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ள பிரிவுகள் உள்ளவாறே நிறைவேற்றப்பட வேண்டுமாயின் அரசியலமைப்பின் 84(2) ஆம் உறுப்புரையின் பிரகாரம் விசேட பெரும்பான்மை வாக்குகளால் மாத்திரமே நிறைவேற்றப்படலாம் என அரசியலமைப்பின் 123 ஆம் உறுப்புரையின் பிரகாரம் உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பளித்துள்ளது.

அவ்வாறே 2 ஆம் பிரிவின் 7 (5) (ஆ), 7 (6) மற்றும் 4 ஆம் பிரிவின் 9 (3) உப பிரிவுகள் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தால் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளவாறு திருத்தியமைக்கப்படும் பட்சத்தில் அரசியலமைப்புக்கு முரணானதல்ல என்றும் நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கியுள்ளது. மேற்குறிப்பிடப்பட்ட 2 ஆம் பிரிவின் 7(5) (ஆ), 7 (6) மற்றும் 4 ஆம் பிரிவின் 9 (3) உப பிரிவுகள் தவிர்ந்த சட்டமூலத்தின் ஏனைய பிரிவுகள் அரசியலமைப்புக்கு முரணானவை அல்ல என்றும் உயர் நீதிமன்றம் மேலும் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கியுள்ளது என்றும் சபாநாயகர் வி. ஜே. மு. லொக்குபண்டார தெரிவித்தார்.

ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் பைலட்டுகளின் வேலை நிறுத்தம் காரணமாக சென்னையிலிருந்து கொழும்பு செல்லவிருந்த பயணிகள் பெரும் தவிப்புக்குள்ளானார்கள். இதையடுத்து ஏர் இந்தியா நிறுவனம் சிறப்பு விமானம் ஒன்றை இயக்கி அவர்களை கொழும்பு அழைத்துச் சென்றது. ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் பைலட்டுகள் வேலைநிறுத்தம் காரணமாக ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் சேவை முற்றிலும் ஸ்தம்பித்துப் போயுள்ளது.

இந்த வேலைநிறுத்தம் காரணமாக சென்னையிலிருந்து ஜெட் நிறுவனம் இயக்கும் எட்டு விமானங்களும் ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன. அவற்றில் ஒன்று கொழும்புக்கான விமானம். இந்த விமானம் இன்று ரத்து  செய்யப்பட்டதால், அதில் செல்லவிருந்த பயணிகள் பரிதவிப்புக்கு ஆளாகினர்.

இதையடுத்து சென்னையிலிருந்து கொழும்புக்கு ஏர் இந்தியா நிறுவனம் கூடுதல் விமானத்தை இயக்கியது. சென்னை விமான நிலையத்தில் தவித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் பயணிகள் இதில் அழைத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டனர்.

அதே விமானத்தில், ஜெட் வேலைநிறுத்தத்தில் சிக்கி கொழும்பு செல்ல வேண்டிய இந்திய கிரிக்கெட் அணியினரும் ஏர் இந்தியாவின் சிறப்பு விமானத்தில் அழைத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டனர்.

இந்த சிறப்பு கூடுதல் விமானம் இன்று முற்பகல் 11.45 மணிக்கு சென்னைக்கு வந்திருந்த கிரிக்கெட் வீரர்கள் மற்றும் பிற பயணிகளுடன் பெங்களூர் சென்றது. அங்கு தங்கியிருந்த சில வீரர்களை ஏற்றிக் கொண்டு 12.45 மணிக்கு கொழும்பு சென்றது.

இந்த விமானத்தில் சச்சின், ராகுல் டிராவிட், கம்பீர், இஷாந்த் சர்மா, பிரவீன் குமார், அமித் மிஸ்ரா, யூசுப் பதான், படேல், அபிஷேக் நாயர், திணேஷ் கார்த்திக், ஆசிஷ் நெஹ்ரா ஆகியோரும், பயிற்சியாளர்களான ராபின் சிங், வெங்கடேஷ் பிரசாத், கேரி கிர்ஸ்டன் ஆகியோரும் பயணித்தனர்.

ஆப்கா னிஸ்தான் மற்றும் ஈராக்கில் பிடிபட்ட சிறை கைதிகளை கொடுமைப்படுத்தியது தொடர்பான ரகசிய ஆவணங்களை இந்தியப் பிரதமர் மன்மோகன் சிங்கின் மகள் அம்ரீத் சிங், அமெரிக்க கோர்ட்டில் வாதாடி பெற்றுள்ளார்.

ஆப்கானிஸ்தானில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட கைதிகள் குவான்தனாமோ சிறையிலும்,  ஈராக்கில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட கைதிகள் அபு கிரெய்ப் சிறையிலும் அடைக்கப்பட்டு அமெரிக்க ராணுவத்தினரால் பல்வேறு சித்திரவதைக்கு ஆளாக்கப்பட்டனர்.  இது தொடர்பாக அமெரிக்க புலனாய்வு நிறுவனங்களான எப்.பி.ஐ., சி.ஐ.ஏ, போன்றவை பதிவு செய்த ஆவணங்கள் மற்றும் வீடியோ டேப்புகளை ஒப்படைக்கும் படி அமெரிக்க மனித உரிமை இயக்கம் நீண்ட நாட்களாக (ஏ.சி.எல்.யூ.,) கோரி வந்தது.

கியூபா நாட்டுக்கு அருகே உள்ள குவான்தனாமோ சிறை மற்றும் அபு கிரெய்ப் சிறையில் கைதிகள் கொடுமைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட அனைத்து விவரங்களையும் அளிக்கும்படி அமெரிக்க அரசுக்கு உத்தரவிடக் கோரி, ஏ.சி.எல்.யூ., இயக்கத்தில் உள்ள அமெரிக்க வக்கீலான மன்மோகன் சிங்கின் மகள் அம்ரீத் சிங்,  கோர்ட்டில் வழக்கு தொடர்ந்தார்.

சிறை கைதிகளுக்கு நேர்ந்த கொடுமை,  காவலில் இறந்த கைதிகளின் பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கை அனைத்தையும் தகவல் அறியும் உரிமை சட்டத்தின் கீழ் அளிக்க வேண்டும்,  என ஏ.சி.எல்.யூ., நீண்ட நாட்களாக கோரி வந்தது.

இந்த அமைப்பின் சார்பில் அம்ரீத் சிங்கும்,  கனடா நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த ஜமீல் ஜாபரும் கோர்ட்டில் வாதாடி,  ஒரு லட்சத்து 30 ஆயிரம் பக்கங்கள் கொண்ட ரகசிய ஆவணங்களை பெற்றுள்ளனர். இந்த ஆவணங்களை அரசிடமிருந்து போராடி பெறுவதற்கு ஒன்பது கோடி ரூபாய் செலவிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.  இந்த தொகையை அரசிடமிருந்து பெறவும் இந்த அமைப்பு திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.
இதற்கிடையே,  இரண்டு கைதிகளை கொடுமைப்படுத்தியது தொடர்பான வீடியோ டேப்புகளை எரித்து விட்டதாக சி.ஐ.ஏ.,  தெரிவித்துள்ளது. இது கோர்ட் அவமதிப்பு செயலாகும் என கூறும் அம்ரீத் சிங்,  இன்னும் வெளியிடப்படாத ஆவணங்களையும் ஒப்படைக்கும் படி கூறி வாதாடி வருகிறார். அமெரிக்கரை திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டுள்ள அம்ரீத் சிங்(40) யேல் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் சட்டம் படித்தவர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் விமானிகளின் அறிவிக்கப்படாத வேலை நிறுத்தம் தொடர்வதால் பயணிகள் பெரும் அவதிக்குள்ளாகிவருகிறார்கள். இதுவரை 160 விமானங்களின் சேவை பாதிப்புக்குள்ளாகியுள்ளது. 20 ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட பயணிகள் விமான நிலையங்கலில் தவிக்கிறார்கள்.

ஏர் இந்தியா  மற்றும் சில தனியார் விமான நிறுவனங்கள் கூடுதலாக விமானங்களை இயக்கி நிலைமையைச் சமாளித்து வருகின்றன. கடந்த வாரம் ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் விமான நிறுவனம் 2 பைலட்டுகளை வேலையிலிருந்து நீக்கியது இதற்கு எதிர்ப்பு  தெரிவிக்கும் வகையிலும், வேலை நீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டவர்களை மீண்டும் பணியில் சேர்க்கவேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தியும் நாடு முழுவதுமுள்ள ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் நிறுவன பைலட்டுகள் 600பேர் திடீரென மாஸ் லீவ் எடுத்தனர்.

இதனால் 160 விமானங்களின் சேவை பாதிக்கப்பட்டது. நாடு முழுவதும் 20ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட பயணிகள் பாதிக்கப்பட்டனர். இந்நிலையில் உடல் நிலையை காரணம் கூறி விடுப்பில் போன பைலட்டுகளை ஜெட் நிறுவன அதிகாரிகள் நேரில் சென்று ஆய்வு செய்தனர். இதில் 8 பைலட்டுகள் சொன்ன காரணம் உண்மையில்லை என்று அறிந்த நிர்வாகம் 8பேரையும் பணி நீக்கம் செய்து இன்று உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

இதோடு சேர்த்து இதுவரை 10 பைலட்டுகள் வேலை நீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர். பேச்சுவார்த்தைக்கு அழைப்பார்கள் என்று பைலட்டுகள் காத்திருந்த நிலையில் நிர்வாகம் மேலும் 8 பைலட்டுகளை பணிநீக்கம் செய்தது மற்ற பைலட்டுகளிடம் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

இந்நிலையில் பயணிகள் சேவை பாதிக்கப்படுவதினால் பைலட்டுகளை மீண்டும் வேலைக்கு திரும்பவைக்க தேவையான நடவடிக்கை  எடுக்க மத்திய அரசு  ஜெட் ஏர்வேஸ் நிர்வாகத்தை கேட்டுக்கொண்டுள்ளது.ஆனால் பேச்சுவார்த்தை இப்போதைக்கு தொடங்குவதாகத் தெரியவில்லை.
